INTRACOM HOLDINGS' main participating companies maintain a strong commitment to innovation and R&D. Total investment in R&D amounts to 5%-7% of Group's annual revenues.
Throughout its history, the Group's total investment expenditure has amounted to
€1 billion and R&D expenditures have reached €500 million. INTRACOM HOLDINGS' main subsidiaries operate several world-class R&D Labs, and have registered a number of international patents.
R&D programmes aim at developing cutting-edge products and competitive solutions on an international level that will meet the future business needs of organisations, agencies, and companies. Through the implemented projects, the advanced offered solutions and the pioneering R&D programmes, INTRACOM HOLDINGS is acknowledged as a group investing in the creation of innovation, technology and knowledge.
The 2003 - 2005 "EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard" reports, compiled by the European Union, list INTRACOM among the top 300 largest European companies (irrespective of business sector) with the highest R&D investment. In 2006, INTRACOM HOLDINGS received the "Research and Technological Development" award from the Athens Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Over the past five years INTRACOM HOLDINGS' participating companies have participated in more than 180 international research programmes (often as the lead partner), and they have registered (through the Industrial Property Organisation and the European Patent Office) a significant number of international patents.

Investing in knowledge
To promote scientific research and graduate
education in the field of Information Technology and
Telecommunications, INTRACOM HOLDINGS established AIT
(Athens Information Technology;
www.ait.edu.gr), an educational and research centre
that offers, in collaboration with the world renowned
Carnegie-Mellon University (USA), a specialised post-graduate
programme leading to a Master of Science degree in Information
Networking. AIT also offers two more academic postgraduate
educational programs: MSITT (Master of Science in Information
and Telecommunications Technologies) and MBIT (Master
of Science in Business, Innovation and Technology). To date, AIT has granted more than 300 scholarships to students from 21 countries.
AIT is a Strategic Partner of Carnegie Mellon University's CyLab, a comprehensive research and education centre aimed at developing new technologies for the enhancement of cyber security and promoting safe, responsible computing for home users and enterprises.
